G.H. Cretors Popcorn

My server was down this morning for quite a bit – so hopefully not too many of you were worried about me 😀

I love popcorn.  Tony made the best homemade popcorn, and I am glad that is one of the skills I was able to make as good as he did.  Still working on his fried rice!   I could eat a 12 course dinner and if I smell popcorn, I will want to eat it.

So I was thrilled when G.H. Cretors reached out to me and asked if I’d like to get a movie kit from them  Um, yes please!

g.h. cretors movie night kit

If you have never had “The Mix” popcorn before, it’s the best of both worlds.  Salty cheese popcorn mixed with caramel corn.  I am weird in that I have to eat a piece of cheese popcorn and a piece of caramel popcorn in each bite.  This combo is obsessively delicious!

G.H. Cretors is a local Chicago based popcorn company that’s been around since 1893 when Charles Cretors unveiled the first popcorn machine at the Chicago’s World Fair.  It’s made in small batches, they use non-GMO ingredients and popcorn and is 100% gluten-free.   Here are some fun facts about popcorn:

  • American’s eat an estimated 17 billion quarts of popcorn every year
  • Nearly 70% of popcorn is eaten at home
  • Popcorn is the official snack of the State of Illinois, home of G.H. Cretors!

I am giving away TWO 22 ounce bags of The Mix popcorn.    Just leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve ever had The Mix combo before.  I wonder if it’s just a Chicago thing?!  Good luck – I’ll pick a winner on Friday.

The Chicago mix is SO. DELICIOUS. Lucky for us, G.H. Cretors is on the shelves here in NC! It’s dangerous though.

Never had…..but would like to try!!! Been away from Chi way too long I guess. Can you buy online?? FYI yes I did wonder what happened to you this morning and was a bit concerned, “Where’s Biz? She is ALWAYS there….I wonder what happened” Well, glad it was a computer problem and not something more serious….

Belated Happy Mother’s Day! Where I live, we call that mix the Chicago Mix. I guess that makes sense now!

I’ve never had the mix before. I’m afraid I’d have to eat the pieces separately! When I was a kid I finished each item on my plate one at a time.

Veggies, then carb, then meat. Or whatever

ThAT broth looks so darn good! So, at first glance I thought you had the popcorn on top of your spinach and toast DOH! During the holidays my husband brings home these huge tin cans filled with three types of popcorn, cheese + plain + caramel. I too love the cheese+caramel mix in all its yumminess! WHAT A GREAT BITE IT IS!

    I love popcorn!

Yep, like Jan I almost always get a tin of popcorn from one of my clients for Christmas. I always mix the cheese and caramel together. Something about the sweet and savory just goes so well together. The soup looks yummy I will just have to sub the wontons for something. I only like crispy wontons. I like your necklace. I’m a fan of silver and usually go for bigger “clunky” pieces.

At first, I thought there is NO WAY cheesecorn and caramel corn would taste good mixed….luckily I was wrong! We used to get it at Costco, who no longer carries it. After a quick check of their website, I was able to snag a few bags at our local Walgreens.

I confess: I cannot resist The Garrett Mix (formerly, Chicago mix)! Garrett’s is my downfall – I find that stuff irresistible. I’d love to try G.H. Gretors. I’m not familiar with it and I definitely live in Illinois.

i love caramel/cheese popcorn and i think it is a chicago thing. i’ve often seen it labeled “chicago mix.” my fave popcorn personally is air popped at home and then topped with butter, salt, powdered parmesan, garlic powder and sriracha. it’s wonderful. but pretty much any popcorn is yummy. 🙂
