It was interesting to hear how many people have a love/hate relationship with artificial sweeteners. I failed to mention one important piece of information about Habitall. Since it’s made from all-natural ingredients, um, how to I put this delicately. I just have to say it. You won’t shit your pants if you use this!
I’ll never forget after being diagnosed with diabetes in 2000. I was passing through the train station in Chicago and I see a sign from Fannie Mae candy that said “now offering sugar free candy!” OMG! I can eat candy again because it’s sugar free! Much like the “fat free” craze where people thought you can each as much as you want because its fat free! I too, had the same thought about sugar free candy.
I of course thought it was a good idea to buy the 8 piece sample pack. Think each piece of candy was about the size of a penny. I got back to my office and decided to try one. Wow, so good! So I had another piece, and another – until I ate 4 pieces! I figured “I’ll save the rest for tomorrow.”
Not a half hour later I was like “WTF?!” and not kidding, spent the next four hours unable to leave the toilet. I even missed my train home! Turns out the artificial sweetener they used was sorbitol – and I don’t think I’ve had any sf candy with it since! (Hope you aren’t eating breakfast now and have a visual of me on the toilet – ha! and you’re welcome!)
For breakfast yesterday I made a flatout breakfast wrap, but my wrap kinda broke up on me, so this was more of a fork and knife breakfast.
It was perfect weather yesterday. Just before I decided to go to the gym, I realized it was a sunny 68 degrees and decided to get my walk on outside. I figured out how to do a screen shot of my iPhone – woot! I ended up walking 45 minutes around the subdivision behind my office. Below is the main road that gets you to the subdivision, not a whole lot of traffic.
Some small houses to look at:
I found a can of chipotle peppers in my pantry so I decided to marinate some chicken for chicken tacos for a lunch for me and my boss. She can handle the heat!
Chipotle Pepper Marinated Chicken
- 2 servings – 120 calories, 1.1 fat, 460 sodium, 4.9 carbs, 2/6 fiber and 22 protein
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces of chicken breast, chopped into bite size pieces
- 2 Tablespoons chipotle chili in adobo (I use 1 chili and 1 tablespoon of the sauce)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- juice from 1 lime
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- cracked pepper to taste
I put everything but the chicken in my mini chopped and pulsed until it became smooth. Poured over my chicken and let it sit overnight before Pam frying before work yesterday. I also sauteed a red pepper to add to the tacos, and topped with chopped lettuce, red cabbage, a little bit of cheddar cheese and my baja fresh salsa.
I love, love this marinade. It’s spicy, but I love the kick of the vinegar and the acidity of the lime juice. Not your typical chicken taco – but delish! The other star of the plate though was 1/2 a cup of my stovetop refried beans. I topped it with some more of my baja fresh salsa – spicy goodness!
I had more chicken for dinner, or polish kielbasa, and Tony picked the kielbasa. We both agree this is very tasty grilled. Since I knew I was going to work out after dinner, I didn’t go too crazy. I had 3 ounces of sausage, 1 cup of grilled broccoli tossed in 1 tablespoon of hot giardiniera, and 1/2 cup of vinegar cole slaw on the side.
So at 7:45, I got my workout clothes on and did Day 2 of Insanity. I have to say, I am quite shocked at how NOT sore I am after the first two days. I think its because he does he really good stretch after the initial 5 minute warm up, and has a great stretch at the end.
You all know that Tony loves me for who I am. Right now, muffin top at all. He’s always telling me that if I chose to lose weight its because I want to, not because he thinks I need to. I was right in the middle of doing push ups before going into sprints in the plank position when he came into the family room and started cheering me on – love it! I appreciate your support every day Tony – thank you!
I have some awesome news to share. My blog friend Veronica has been trying to have a baby forever. I used to get so sad for her when she’d post that another month has come and gone and I believe she’d given up hope of ever becoming a Mom. She and her husband just celebrated their 13th anniversary yesterday, when she posted this picture on Facebook.
She’s actually due on her husbands birthday in December! So just wanted to let her know how happy I am for her – she’s gonna be a great Momma and I hope you will all send good vibes her way for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Best.news.ever!

Alright, I need to get going here – I am off to make chicken stir fry for lunch today and I think I may have a Green Monster for breakfast!
It’s National Running Day today, so if my legs are up to it, I am going to do a 5k at lunch today – make it a great day!
I never knew of the FUN effects of artificial sweeteners, too funny. and HOLY HAPPY for Veronica. I have been sick all week and haven’t been blogging or reading, I am heading over to offer her some congrats!
Omgoats Biz I was so shocked when I saw myself on your blog! LOL! Was not expecting that at all! I’m so happy you’re so excited for us! And thanks to all the readers who are happy for us too without even knowing us, that is so touching.
Oh and I hate sorbitol too-I think we’ve swapped diarrhea stories about it before cuz I remember yours-lol. I steer clear of aspartame (phenylalanine) but don’t get too anal about it. My favorite artificial sweetener is sucralose as it has been deemed safest and doesn’t give me any bad effects, but if I have a choice I sweeten with stevia. I’m also down with ehrythritol (sorry I know that’s horribly misspelled) so I’d be cool with that product!
I am just so happy for you and Dennis, I had to share to good news!!
Yep, we’ve shared shit stories before, and I had to laugh about you not being to “anal” about aspartame – hahahahaha!
Hugs!
bwahahahahaha–that was totally innocent and I didn’t even realize I made a punny! Good catch!
Holy cow! I had no idea sorbitol could have such an intense effect. Good to know!
I love how supportive Tony is . . . you’ve obviously got a very special man in your life. 🙂 Way to go with Insanity–you’re so inspiring!
Thanks Michelle! Yep, I am a lucky gal!
