Do you guys remember last fall when I had a photo shoot downtown?  It felt like so long ago!  From the time the Diabetes magazine contacted me they literally wanted me to get my photos professionally done within a week!  The photographer A.J. was super nice.   But I only really saw the photos through his camera.  Here’s the deal, I was the “model” and had to sign a release.  The magazine owned the pictures.  AJ couldn’t give me any pictures for my blog until the article was published.

But the article never happened, so in January I sent an email asking what the status was and the only response was that it was temporarily on hold and they had no publishing date.  Rats.  For whatever reason, I emailed them yesterday and said that I didn’t care if the article was ever published, but could they give AJ permission to release a few pictures to me.  I got an immediate response:  “Bizzy, we published it last month!”  Oh, thanks for letting me know!  This is in a Health Monitor publication that gets distributed to diabetic doctor offices around the U.S.  They are going to mail me a few hard copies, but here is the link for you to check out.

I forwarded the article to my co-workers, and they all agreed that the photo didn’t look like me at all.  Well, that’s what I can look like with my hair professionally done, my make-up done, and dressed!  I am just so happy that a week before I had my eyebrows done!

And the icing on the cake is that I got my quarterly diabetes report back from my blood test a couple weeks ago.  A1C is the number that diabetic should know.  Anything under 7 is considered  to have “excellent control” of their disease.  Mine was 6.8.  Last time it was 6.3 – so it’s up a bit, but still considered to be excellent.

And all my lab work was normal!  Normal HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Thyroid, Cholesterol – winning!

So the Keurig machine is still running a bit slow, but it’s working this morning.  Yesterday?  Not so much.  So I left for work early so I could hit up Starbucks on my way to work.  For some reason I had a taste for a light caramel frappacino – the tall is only 100 calories.  But by the time I got there, there was 10 cars in the drive-thru and not a single space in the parking lot.  Dammit.  So I got to work and thought for a second.  I still had my smoothie maker at work.  We had caramel sauce left over from an ice cream birthday celebration.  The only think I didn’t have was any milk, but I thought if I let the smoothie maker do its magic, I could have a nice frothy coffee drink.

This was surprisingly very good – although today I am bringing unsweetened almond milk and I think that will kick it up a notch and make it seem creamier.   I had more of my Pillsbury breakfast muffins – still not sick of them, which is good because they are breakfast again today and tomorrow!

Work was so busy yesterday I never made it to the gym.  I finally put my taco salad together around 1:45, only to forget that I had an appointment with our Canon copier guys to talk about our new copier now that our lease is almost up.  That took 45 minutes and by the time I got back to my salad, it was kind of gross.  I ate maybe 1/4 of this.  I ended up just eating a banana since it was almost near 3!

I ended up making Tony a skinny burger for dinner.  He likes the skinny frozen burgers but when I went to buy them, almost all of the burgers were “pub style” burgers and too thick.  So I bought these:

First of all, they were square, which was weird, and somehow they call themselves the #1 Frozen Burgers in Chicago, but I’ve never heard of them before.  And while the first ingredient is beef, it had a distinctive onion flavor.  #Ew!   I had artichoke ravioli – I made a super quick tomato spinach sauce – simply a can of Italian seasoned plum tomatoes, 2 tablespoons garlic, 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper, and 2 cups of chopped baby spinach – I just simmered that for a quick 15 minutes.  The ravioli cooked in about 6 minutes.   5 ravioli were only 190 calories, so I had 7. Open-mouthed smile

Even without a lunch time workout, still got over 7,000 steps.  Although my sister told me of Roni’s 100,000 step challenge – that would be about 14,000 steps a day!  I may try that next week!

Alright, time to get this show on the road – I can’t believe its Thursday already – make it a great day!
