If you follow on Insagram (mybizzykitchen) then you already know that Tony got home last night!

When I went to the hospital before work yesterday, I woke him up.  It was just before 7:00 a.m.  I stayed for just over an hour but no doctors came by.  He was able to order off the regular menu, no diet restrictions, and ordered the fresh fruit plate with yogurt and granola.

While it looks pretty, the cantaloupe and honeydew melon were no where near ripe.  Tony told me it was super crunchy to eat.  Oh well, what are you going to do.  I accessorized my breakfast with another English muffin and some scrambled eggs and bacon to make a breakfast sammie at work.  I still got the employee discount so it only cost me $2.31.  I brought one of Tony’s yogurts on the side.  I was out of Chobani and Tony likes having Yoplait with cereal for breakfast.  For the record, the breakfast special for visitors and hospital staff?  Biscuits and gravy – gah!

Maybe it’s because I’ve been eating Chobani for so long, but this tasted so artificially sweet and it looked like creamy Pepto Bismol.  Ew.

Only one tiny problem about not eating the yogurt.  I had already given myself insulin in preparation of eating it, and since I didn’t before too long I could feel my blood sugar dropping and it was 64.  Damn.  I didn’t bring anything for lunch because I had to buy some stock paper for work and when I told my boss I was going to run that errand and pick up lunch she said “No!  We have too much work to do – make someone else do it.”  Um, well, there is only one other secretary, but she was able to run the errand for me.  Still didn’t have an idea about what to have for lunch until I suggested to my boss “Do you want that Pad Thai from across the street?”  She said yes, so that meant she would be buying my lunch too – score!  And they deliver!  I sent an email around a couple other people went in on it too.

I had a plan though.  Since I knew I was going to be at the hospital for dinner last night, I decided to create my own lunch and dinner – I bought beef on a stick $2, chicken on a stick $2, brown rice $2 and Szechuan green beans $5.  So for $11 I got this:

I ended up chopping one of the beef sticks, one of the chicken sticks, half the brown rice and chopped up half the green beans.  I tossed that mixture in one packet of the sweet and sour sauce with some sriracha and my stirfry was delicious!  Best part – I had the second helping ready to heat up at the hospital – no hospital food for me!  And doesn’t every office have a cutting board?!

So I get the hospital and Tony said “get my clothes, I am going home!”  Awesome!  We still don’t have the results from his biopsy and won’t until Monday – we have an appointment with his GP on Monday to go over everything.  Um, Tony doesn’t know it yet, but I really want to go to that appointment.  But here’s the deal – from the time they say you are okay to go home, until you get that precious yellow envelope with all your instructions –takes forever!  They told him around 9:00 a.m. that he was going to go home and the paperwork was being processed.  However, with so many doctors involved, each doctor has to sign off on his release and by 3:00 he was no closer going home.  I got there at 4:30 and we finally left at 5:30 – with the yellow envelope!

He still doesn’t want anything heavy for food, so I made home some orzo with a little bit of butter.  I ended up having a gyros on one of my homemade pita breads.  My store sells gyros meat for $4 a pound and when you buy that, the tzatziki sauce is free.  Just chopped up some romaine and tomato and I as good to go.

He kind of dozed off and on last night – and at one point I suggested why don’t we just go to bed and he was like “I’ve been in bed for the last 5 days!”  So true.  I went to bed and he came in sometime later.   I didn’t even look at my steps yesterday, just took my fitbit off before bed.  I was shocked that I got 9,000 steps without a workout – I was super busy at work so it paid off!

Today I have laundry to do – I am sure Tony is going to continue to take it easy.  I have to work at the restaurant tonight and my firm is having their 3rd anniversary dinner tomorrow night that I have to go to.  I think Tony planned this whole hospital thing just so he would have to attend one of my firm events – ha!

Thanks for your continued support, well wishes, emails, etc. – it means so much to us!  Have a great weekend!
