I am not very tech savvy.  One of the things I miss most about our kids not being around is having them show me how to do things!  I’ll never forget when I first got my iPhone.  I couldn’t even figure out how to dial the phone to make a phone call.  I handed it to Hannah and she down loaded all these apps and then made categories for them before I even knew what an app was!

So I did what I normally do when I don’t know how to do something.  Watch a youtube video!  That’s how I learned how to roll gnocchi from an 80 year old Italian grandma.   So I looked up “how to set up Fit Bit Zip.”  A 3 minute video and I was in business!  I only have an iPhone 4, so I put the fitbit software on my home computer and the app on my phone.  Once I sync up to the computer at the end of the day, it automatically updates my iPhone app.  I was so proud of myself!

I knew we were going to have leftover bagels at work from my birthday, so I brought stuff to make half a bagel sammie for breakfast.  What I didn’t realize is that there were only sweet bagels left.  But I gave it a shot and grabbed a cinnamon raisin bagel.  I have to say – the sweet/savory combo really worked for me!  I took half the amount of insulin at breakfast because I knew I wanted to work out at lunch.

So when I checked my blood sugar at 11:15 I was shocked that it was only 85.  WTF?  So I ate two tablespoons of this amazeball peanut butter and a Chobani.

I thought that would do the trick to raise my blood sugar.  Nope!  It was actually noon, not 11.  I haven’t changed it since daylight savings, and quite honestly, I’ll probably have to watch another video on youtube to figure out how to change the time because I don’t know how.

So, I drank a 10 ounce orange juice.  Waited another 15 minutes and it only got up to 98.  Gah.  I cut my losses.  I didn’t want to keep eating in order to exercise because at some point that becomes a wash.  So I did what any normal person would do.  I went to Goodwill!  I ended up buying three quart size mason jars for .99 cents each.  And I was proud of myself for not throwing any snowmen in my cart!

I made Cincinnati chili Sunday night and had some leftover for lunch with some flax seed tortilla chips.  I meant to grab a can of black beans before I left but I forgot.

My day job was actually busy yesterday!  Several attorneys are going to be out of the office next week, so it’s a mad dash to get everything done.  Before I knew it, it was time to get to the restaurant.  I wasn’t sure if I’d be working the Wine event or just have tables in the dining room, and I ended up with a 5 table station in the dining room.  But it was slow.  My first table ordered a bottle of wine, but my other 3 tables of the night all drank water.   It was slow so I didn’t flip any of my tables and was actually done by 8:10 and I was home by 9:00 with $75 bucks in my pocket – I’ll take it!

No photo of dinner.  I brought home some chicken rice soup, then heated up a leftover piece of pizza from my birthday dinner.  I was off to bed by 11:00 and woke up at 7:00 this morning.  Perfect!  And I know for a fact I don’t have the bar tonight.  One of the servers who called in last week so that I worked the bar Friday night is this nice young kid who’s working this second job to make more money for his wedding this summer.  He has a twin brother (as does one of the bartenders – 3 sets of identical twins!) who just found out he has testicular cancer – only 26 years old!  I am hoping that they’ll be able to remove the tumor without chemo, but I have no idea about that type of cancer – so sad!

So, since I didn’t work out at lunch, I logged 5100 steps before I got to the restaurant.  So that’s from about 8:00 in the morning until 4:45.  Between 5:00 and 8:10?  I logged 6085 steps!  Um, guess my night job gets me a few more steps than my day job!

I already have a badge for reaching more than 10,000 steps.  I entered all my food on fitbit yesterday too, but haven’t looked at the analysis yet.  According to fitbit I burned 1900 calories throughout the day.

Stats for the Day:

  • 1698 calories, 86 protein, 53 fat, 150 carbs, 14 fiber
  • 24% of calories from protein, 42% carbs, and 34% from fat
  • 11,185 steps for 4.54 miles
  • average blood sugar 82

Alright, time to get my work shirt out of the dryer and ironed for tonight.  We are supposed to have temps close to 60 today! Hoping that brings lots of people to the restaurant and melts all this dirty ass snow.  Happy Friday – make it a great day!
